Joris Verdin, born on January 21, 1952, in Anderlecht, is a Belgian organist, composer, and musicologist. He began piano lessons at the age of seven and later explored free jazz before studying the organ and musicology around the age of 21. Verdin dedicated his career to performing forgotten music from various eras and contemporary works, and he joined the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp to teach organ and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven to teach musical practice. His discography spans from the 16th to the 20th century, including his acclaimed 2000 recording of César Franck's organ works, which was named an event of the month by the journal Diapason, and an interpretation of Charles-Marie Widor's Symphonies Op. 13. He collaborated with the Göteborg Organ Art Center in Sweden, served as organist of honor for the historical organs of Gaspar de la Redonda in Torre de Juan Abad, Spain, and received the Prix Cecilia from the Belgian music press in 2001.
