Henri Tournier is a French flautist born in 1955 in Deux-Sèvres. Tournier achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by classical Indian music and contemporary music. He achieved professional recognition for a career that began after studying at the Conservatoire de Versailles where he received a first prize and the École normale de musique de Paris. His musical career included serving as a teacher of the transverse flute at the Conservatoire du XIVe arrondissement de Paris between 1983 and 2005. Tournier achieved professional recognition for studying the bansuri in Mumbai with the musicians Hariprasad Chaurasia and Malhar Kulkarni. He achieved professional recognition for serving as an assistant and guest professor at the Rotterdam Conservatoire since 1992. Tournier achieved professional recognition for collaborating with Chaurasia on the performance and realization of the concerto Adi Anant. He achieved professional recognition for being named a professor of Indian music at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 2016. His discography included the studio recording Souffles des steppes (2017) released on the label Accords-Croisés.
