Deathray was a rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1998 by Greg Brown and Victor Damiani of Cake, along with Dana Gumbiner. The trio recruited James Neil on drums and Max Hart on keyboards to complete the lineup. Deathray was signed to Capricorn Records. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Eric Valentine, was released in 2000. The band faced challenges during the collapse of Capricorn Records and a nationwide tour but regained control of their masters, releasing subsequent material on their own label, Doppler Records. Deathray disbanded in July 2007.
