Mercy Dee Walton, born Mercy Davis Walton on August 3, 1915, in Waco, Texas, was an American jump blues pianist, singer, and songwriter. He started playing piano at age 13 and worked as a field laborer prior to his music career. In 1949, Walton released his first single "Lonesome Cabin Blues" on Spire Records. His breakthrough came with the national hit "One Room Country Shack", released in 1953 on Specialty Records, which became a blues standard.
Following this success, he toured and recorded several tracks for various labels before Mercy Dee was released by Arhoolie Records in 1961. Walton died from a cerebral hemorrhage in Murphys, California, on December 2, 1962.
