Claude Chalhoub, born on December 9, 1974, in Beirut, Lebanon, is a violinist from a musical family. He studied at the Lebanese Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music in London after winning the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship. His debut album Claude Chalhoub (2001) blended Western classical elements with Indian/Arabic influences. He was concertmaster for Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra from 1999 to 2002 and collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project. Chalhoub has performed worldwide with renowned orchestras and composed music for films such as Yes (2004) and Into the Wild (2007). He has served as the Dean of the chamber music department at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music.
