Ghost of Tom Joad, a post-punk band from Münster, was formed on February 16, 2006. The group took its name from Bruce Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad". Their debut EP, Is This What You Call a Fronterlebnis?, was released in 2007 and sold during concerts and through their website. In 2008, the band released their first full-length album, No Sleep Until Ostkreuz, followed by Matterhorn in 2009. Ghost of Tom Joad supported acts such as Lost Patrol Band, Madsen, Maxïmo Park, Coheed and Cambria, Kettcar, Tomte, Samiam, Mando Diao, State Radio, and Muff Potter. In 2011, they released their final album, Black Musik. The band announced its disbandment on January 13, 2012, concluding with four final concerts in April of the same year.
