Heinz Hermann Polzer, known as Drs. P, was born on August 24, 1919 in Thun, Switzerland, and raised in the Netherlands after his parents' divorce. He began his music career in 1965 with a TV appearance on Willem Duys' program, which led to his breakthrough as Drs. P. His first album Drs. LP was released the following year. Throughout his career, Drs. P released numerous recordings including Het Hart Eener Deerne, and Zingt Allen Mee Met Drs. P. Notable songs include "Veerpont" and "Dodenrit". He also wrote texts for cabarets by Hetty Blok, Gerard Cox, and Albert Mol. He received several awards including the De Nieuwe Clercke-Pico Bello-prijs (1979), Cestoda-prijs (1986) and Edison Award (1992). In 1998, he gave his last concert. Heinz Hermann Polzer died on June 13, 2015 in Amsterdam at the age of 95.
