Liva Weel, born Olivia Marie Olsen in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1897, was a Danish singer, comedian, and actress who lived until 1952. Trained in classical singing under Vilhelm Herold, she made her debut in 1917 before achieving popularity performing in revues at the National Scala. In 1930, she performed at the Royal Danish Theatre in Ludvig Holberg's The Fidget. Weel collaborated closely with author Poul Henningsen and composer Kai Normann Andersen, who wrote her signature revue ballads including “Man binder os på mund og hånd”, “Glemmer du”, and “Gå med i lunden”. Her film acting roles included starring performances in Livets karneval in 1923, Odds 777 in 1932, De blaa drenge in 1933, and Smedestræde 4 in 1950. Weel died in Copenhagen in 1952 at age 54.
