Troum, a German electronic music duo, was founded in 1997 by Stefan Knappe and Martin Gitschel. The group originated from Bremen, Germany, with both members previously active in the ambient/industrial group Maeror Tri. Troum's debut album Dreaming Muzak was released in 1998, followed closely by Ryna the same year. Over the next decade, they produced a prolific body of work, including notable albums such as Tjukurrpa (Part One: Harmonies) and Tjukurrpa (Part Two: Drones), both released in 2001. Their music is characterized by its atmospheric and industrial soundscapes, often described as "dark atmospheric ambient industrial" or "transcendental noise." Troum's discography includes over 30 full-length albums and numerous collaborations with other artists, including Martyn Bates, Christian Renou, and Reutoff. The duo frequently appeared on compilation projects and used a spiral as their logo, symbolizing the trance-inducing potential of their music.
