Usurp Synapse, a screamo group originating from Lafayette, Indiana, was formed in 1998. The band’s early output included a split with Index For Potential Suicide and the EP In Examination Of, both in 1999, establishing a reputation for aggressive grindcore‑influenced rhythms and raw vocal delivery. They followed with the split Just Do It! with Hassan I Sabbah in 2000, and the compilation Disinformation Fix in 2004, which gathered unreleased tracks from the aborted ATM Diatribe sessions. After disbanding in 2001, the group re‑emerged in 2024, issuing the EP Polite Grotesqueries and touring with contemporary screamo acts. In 2025, the band toured and released a split EP with Missouri Executive Disorder 44.
