My Life Story, a UK musical group formed in London in 1984, was fronted by singer/songwriter Jake Shillingford. The band's debut single "Girl A, Girl B, Boy C" was produced by Giles Martin and released in 1993. Their orchestral sound, which included elements of pop, electropop, dance-pop, and dance-rock, led to comparisons with groups like Tindersticks and The Divine Comedy. My Life Story's debut album Mornington Crescent was released on January 10, 1995. The group achieved significant success with their second album, The Golden Mile, which spawned five singles that entered the lower half of the UK Top 40 upon its release on March 10, 1997. Following a series of farewell concerts in December 2000, My Life Story disbanded. The group reformed multiple times for special performances and tours, including a notable reunion at KOKO in November 2009 to perform Mornington Crescent in its entirety. In September 2016, they released their first single in 16 years, "24 Hour Deflowerer". My Life Story's fourth studio album, World Citizen, was crowd-funded and released on September 6, 2019. The band continued to release music posthumously, with their fifth studio album, Loving You is Killing Me, released in February 2024.
