Josie and the Pussycats was a 1970s American girl group formed in 1970 as a real-life incarnation of the fictional Archie Comics band, with Cathy Douglas, Patrice Holloway, and Cherie Moor. The trio entered the market with the single “Every Beat of My Heart” (1970) and the self-titled album Josie and the Pussycats: From the Hanna-Barbera TV Show (1970) on Capitol Records, which featured covers of “La, La, La (If I Had You)” and “I'll Be There” as well as original tracks such as “Stop, Look and Listen” and “You've Come a Long Way Baby”. The group issued six singles between 1970 and 1971, none of which charted, leading to the cancellation of a proposed national tour. In 2001, Rhino Handmade issued the compilation Stop, Look and Listen – The Capitol Recordings, re-introducing the group's catalog. The group disbanded in 1971, and no further recordings followed.
