Cyril Diederich, born on October 2, 1945, in Aix-en-Provence, is a French conductor. He studied piano, horn, and timpani before focusing on composition at the conservatories of Toulouse and Rennes. He earned international conducting prizes in Italy and Poland and began his career in 1975 as an assistant to Serge Baudo at the Opéra national de Lyon. Diederich served as assistant conductor for Jean-Claude Casadesus at the Orchestre national de Lille, followed by mentorships under Herbert von Karajan and Georges Prêtre. His roles included musical and artistic director of the Montpellier Orchestra and Opera in 1984, the Rhin-Mulhouse Orchestra in 1998, and permanent conductor and music advisor at the Opéra de Marseille in 2007. Diederich conducted notable works like Noces de sang by Charles Chaynes (1988) and Pascal Dusapin's Roméo et Juliette (1989).
