Ruthless Rap Assassins, formed in 1987 in Hulme, Manchester, England, were a UK rap group comprising MC Kermit La Freak (Paul Leveridge), brothers Dangerous Hinds (Anderson Hinds) and Dangerous C (Carson Hinds). MC Kermit La Freak, a violinist from Moss Side who later pursued a psychology degree, met the Hinds brothers while working with the breakdance crew Broken Glass; together they signed with Murdertone and released the single "We Don't Kare" (1987) followed by "The Meltdown Session" (1988) and "The Drone Session EP" (1989). Their debut album, Killer Album (EMI, 1990), featured socially conscious tracks such as "Justice (Just Us)" and the comedic "Jealous MC", and produced minor hits "Just Mellow" and "And It Wasn't a Dream" (both UK Number 75). The group followed with a second studio effort, Th!nk, It Ain't Illegal Yet (EMI, 1991), which included the live‑percussion track "No Tale, No Twist". Despite critical praise-including a February 1991 Hip Hop Connection accolade for the debut-and support from BBC Radio 1’s John Peel, sales remained modest. The group disbanded shortly after the second album; MC Kermit La Freak later joined Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape and pursued solo projects as Manmade and Big Dog, while Anderson Hinds left the music industry. The Killer Album received a 20th‑anniversary reissue in 2010, preserving the group’s contribution to early British hip‑hop history.
