Variété is a Polish new wave band formed in Bydgoszcz in 1983. The group gained recognition through appearances at the Jarocin Festival and released the single “I znowu ktoś przestawił kamienie / Te dni” in 1985. In 1986, Variété recorded material for their planned debut album Bydgoszcz, but the master tape was stolen from a car before a record contract was finalized; a surviving copy was eventually released in 1992. Their album Variété followed in 1993, featuring jazz trumpeter Andrzej Przybielski. During the 1990s, the band also worked with jazz musicians including saxophonist Mikołaj Trzaska, who appeared on the live album Koncert Teatr STU (1995). Variété released Wieczór przy balustradzie in 1996 before suspending activity in 1997. Grzegorz Kaźmierczak and Marek Maciejewski resumed working together in 2000, initially as Variétéchnologic. The band subsequently released Nowy materiał (2005), Zapach wyjścia (2008), Piosenki kolonistów (2013), and Andy (2015). Later albums include Nie wiem (2017), Dziki książę (2021), and Sieć Indry (2025).
