XX Teens, an English five-piece post-punk band, was formed by graduates from the Byam Shaw School of Art in North London. Initially performing as Xerox Teens, they gained attention with their eponymous club night and airplay from notable DJs. After a name change to XX Teens due to legal issues with the Xerox Corporation, they released their underground hit "Darlin'" in 2007. In 2008, they signed to Mute Records and released their album Welcome to Goon Island, featuring notable singles such as "How to Reduce the Chances of Being a Terror Victim" and "The Way We Were". The band collaborated with various artists and performed at significant venues, including the Royal Festival Hall for Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown.
