Bulletproof Stockings was an American Hasidic alternative rock band formed in 2011 in Crown Heights, New York City by Perl Wolfe and Dalia Shusterman, who met through a mutual friend after Wolfe moved to Brooklyn from Chicago. Their debut EP, Down to the Top, was independently released in 2012. The band gained attention for their unique sound within Jewish music and their adherence to the prohibition of kol isha by performing exclusively for female audiences. In 2015, Bulletproof Stockings launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their debut full-length album Homeland Call Stomp, which was not released. The band embarked on their first national tour, the Homeland Winter tour, beginning with a Hanukkah concert at Webster Hall. Despite their growing popularity, Bulletproof Stockings announced their disbandment on April 8, 2016, citing members moving on to new projects.
