The Scourger is a Finnish thrash metal band formed in Helsinki in 2003 by former Gandalf vocalist Jari Hurskainen, drummer Seppo Tarvainen, and guitarist Pekka Hämäläinen. The band developed an aggressive thrash metal style and expanded its lineup with guitarists Harri Hytönen and Timo Nyberg and bassist Kimmo Kammonen. Their six-song To the Slayground EP was released in 2005, followed by the album Blind Date With Violence in 2006. The latter was later reissued internationally with covers of songs by Slayer and Testament, alongside live recordings. The Scourger performed at major Finnish metal events, including Tuska Open Air (2006 and 2008) and Finnish Metal Expo (2008), and shared stages with acts such as Finntroll, Napalm Death, and Moonsorrow.
