Fotheringay was a British folk rock band formed in 1970 by Sandy Denny, following her departure from Fairport Convention. The group, named after Denny's composition "Fotheringay", included guitarist Trevor Lucas, drummer Gerry Conway, Jerry Donahue on guitar, and Pat Donaldson on bass. Their self-titled debut album Fotheringay (1970) featured several original compositions by Denny, including "Nothing More" and "The Sea", as well as covers of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Way I Feel" and Bob Dylan's "Too Much of Nothing". The album peaked at number 18 in the UK Albums Chart but did not meet commercial expectations. Fotheringay disbanded in January 1971 during sessions for a projected second album, which Jerry Donahue later completed using archived tapes and released as Fotheringay 2 in 2008. In 2015, the surviving original members reunited with additional musicians for tours in England, Germany, and the Netherlands in 2015 and 2016. Other releases include the live album Fotheringay Essen 1970 (2011) and the compilation Nothing More: The Collected Fotheringay (2015).
