Mink Lungs, a band from Brooklyn, was formed in 1993. The group consisted of Jennifer Hoopes and Gian Carlo Feleppa, who met while working at a diner in the Hamptons. They began composing music with Gian's half-brother Tim Feleppa, and later added drummer Tom Galbraith. Their first show was in April 1999 in New York, followed by performances at venues like Brownies and the Mercury Lounge. The band gained recognition for their dynamic live shows and were signed to Arena Rock Recording Co., appearing on This is Next Year: A Brooklyn-Based Compilation. In 2001, they released their debut album The Better Button. They performed across the United States, including at the South By Southwest Festival. Tim Feleppa contributed music to the independent film Sore Losers. Gian Carlo Feleppa and Jennifer Hoopes went on to form Emergency Party.
