Roadside Monument, an American math rock band, was formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1994 by vocalist and guitarist Doug Lorig, drummer Matt Johnson, and bassist Johnathon Ford. After signing with Tooth & Nail Records, the group released the 7‑inch "My Life is Green" in 1995, followed by the full‑length Beside This Brief Hexagonal in 1996. The 1997 album Eight Hours Away From Being a Man and a pair of split EPs with Puller and Frodus expanded their reach in the indie rock and emo scenes. A post‑breakup release, I Am the Day of Current Taste, appeared in 1998 after the band dissolved the same year following the Cornerstone Festival. The group reassembled in 2002, toured with Pedro the Lion, and disbanded again in 2003.
