Polis is a German progressive rock band from Plauen established in 2010. The group consists of vocalist Christian Roscher, guitarist Christoph Kästner, keyboardist Marius Leicht, bassist Andreas Sittig, and drummer Sascha Bormann, who replaced founding member Cornelius Grünert. Their musical style blends elements of artrock and hard rock and is influenced by the traditions of Krautrock and progressive rock from the German Democratic Republic. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Eins (2011) followed by the studio recording Sein (2014). Between 2016 and 2019, the ensemble established their own studio, Weltklang, where they recorded their eponymous third studio recording Weltklang (2020). The work was subsequently mixed at Real World Studios. The ensemble released the live album Unterwegs (2023). Their discography included the studio recording Pilger (2026). Polis reached wider visibility through appearances at events including the Burg-Herzberg-Festival and the Artrock Festivals in Reichenbach. The group utilizes analog instruments, including Moog synthesizers and the Hammond organ, to support their German-language lyrics.
