Annie Herring is an American contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter born as Annie Ward on September 22, 1945, in North Dakota. She achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by Jesus music and for being a pioneer of the genre. Herring achieved professional recognition for a career that began as a self-taught musician and forming the ensemble 2nd Chapter of Acts with her siblings Matthew Ward and Nelly Greisen. Her recording career began when the musician Pat Boone arranged a contract for the trio to record the single "Jesus Is" (1972) and the single "I'm So Happy" (1973) for the label MGM. She achieved professional recognition for writing the majority of the songs and providing lead vocals for 2nd Chapter of Acts until the group became inactive in 1988. Her solo recording career began with the debut studio recording Through a Child's Eyes (1976) and the children's recording Kids of the Kingdom (1976). Herring achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Waiting for My Ride to Come (1991) and the studio recording There's a Stirring (1992). She achieved professional recognition for being included in the Hall of Honor by Homecoming Magazine in 2013.
