Armia, a Polish punk rock band, was founded in 1984 by Tomasz Budzyński, Sławomir Gołaszewski, and Robert Brylewski. The group is notable for its use of horns, an unusual element in punk rock during the late 1980s and 1990s. Armia's debut EP Aguirre was released in 1987, followed by their self-titled album in the same year. Their subsequent albums, including Legenda (1991), Exodus (1992), and Czas i Byt (1993), showcased a diverse range of influences from philosophy to literature. The band's lyrics often drew inspiration from works such as Martin Heidegger’s Being and Time and J.R.R. Tolkien’s fiction. Armia's evolving sound incorporated elements of hardcore, heavy metal, and complex arrangements, making each album distinct. Later releases like Der Prozess (2009) and Freak (2009) further solidified their unique sound.
