Armia is a Polish punk rock band formed in Warsaw in 1984 by Tomasz Budzyński, Robert Brylewski and Sławomir Gołaszewski. Emerging from the Polish independent punk scene, the group developed a distinctive sound based on hardcore punk while incorporating instruments unusual for the genre, particularly the French horn. Their early recordings included Aguirre (1987) and the album Armia (1988), followed by Legenda (1991), which became one of the band's defining releases. Armia continued with albums including Czas i byt (1993), Triodante (1994), Duch (1997) and Droga (1999). The band's music combines punk and hardcore with elements of heavy metal, progressive rock and classical music, while its lyrics draw on spiritual, philosophical and literary themes, including Christianity and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Later releases include Der Prozess (2009), Freak (2009), Toń (2015) and Wojna i pokój (2025).
