Cécile Ousset, born January 23, 1936, in Tarbes, France, is a French pianist who gave her first recital at age five. She studied at the Conservatoire national de musique et d'art dramatique in Paris with Marcel Ciampi, earning her first prize in piano at 14. Ousset's breakthrough came with victories in several international competitions, including the Marguerite-Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition and the fourth prize at the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Music Competition in 1956. She performed worldwide and recorded an extensive repertoire, collaborating with conductors such as Kurt Masur and Simon Rattle. Notable recordings include Preludes: Book 1 & 2 (2003) and Chopin: Piano Sonatas 2 & 3: Ballades & Scherzi (2003). Ousset won the Grand Prix du Disque de l'Académie Charles-Cros for her recording of Brahms' Second Piano Concerto under Masur's direction. She retired from public performance in 2006 due to health issues.
