Ewa Maria Bem-Sibilska, known professionally as Ewa Bem, was born on February 23, 1951, in Warsaw, Poland. She began her music career in 1969 with Grupa Bluesowa Stodoła and performed with the Zbigniew Seifert Quartet in 1970. That year, she co-founded Bemibek with Aleksander Bem and Andrzej Ibek. The group won first prize at the Jazz nad Odrą festival in 1971, while Bem also received first prize at the Lubelskie Spotkania Wokalistów Jazzowych. Following personnel changes, Bemibek became Bemibem, which released Bemowe frazy in 1974. Alongside her work with the group, Bem developed a solo career combining jazz with pop, soul and blues and collaborated with musicians including Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Marek Bliziński and Andrzej Jagodziński. Her recordings include Be a Man (1981), Ewa Bem Loves the Beatles (1984), I co z tego masz? (1986), Mówię tak, myślę nie (2001), and ewa.ewa (2004). She received Fryderyk Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year – Pop for Mówię tak, myślę nie in 2001. Her later recordings include Kakadu (2007) and Tribute to Marek Bliziński (2015).
