Clepsydra, a Swiss neo-progressive rock band from Locarno, Switzerland, was formed in 1990. The group released their debut album, Hologram, in 1991, followed by Pieces from the Hologram. In 1994, they released the concept album More Grains of Sand, featuring Nick Barrett from Pendragon on the outro of "Moonshine on Heights". Gabriele Hofmann left Clepsydra to form Shakary. The band's third album, Fears (1997), introduced guitarist Marco Cerulli, who remained until 2014. Andy Thommen also departed to form Zenit and was replaced by Nicola Da Vita. The album, Alone, was released in 2001, a concept album exploring themes of introspection and life balance. Clepsydra went on hiatus in 2002 but returned in 2012 with the release of 3654 Days (2014), a four-CD box set. The band continued to perform, with notable concerts including Prog en Beauce in France in October 2019 and a private concert in Scotland in August 2022.
