Afro-Dite, a Swedish pop group formed in 2002, comprised Gladys del Pilar, Blossom Tainton-Lindquist, and Kayo Shekoni. The trio gained prominence after winning the Melodifestivalen with "Never Let It Go" in 2002, securing their spot to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Despite being favorites, they finished eighth in the final. Their track "Never Let It Go" reached Number 1 on the Swedish singles chart and the album entered the top ten of the album charts. Afro-Dite returned to Melodifestivalen in 2003 with "Aqua-playa", reaching the final but placing seventh. They offered their mini-album Afro-dite as a free download on their website in 2007. Their third attempt at representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2012, where they finished fifth in the first semifinal of Melodifestivalen and did not advance.
