Bitune, an alternative rock band from Eschwege, Germany, was founded in 1996 by Paul Wrettom and brothers Martin and Thomas Bartscher. Their first demo tape led to the addition of Sascha Wiegand as guitarist and Lars Wagner as vocalist. In 1998, Martin Bartscher took over drumming duties, and Sascha Wiegand became the frontman. The band released their debut album, After the Fire, in 2007 under Headroom Records, followed by their second album, The Great Compression, released in 2009. After the band took a hiatus in 2010, Sascha Wiegand appeared on The Voice of Germany in 2012. Bitune celebrated their 15th anniversary with a reunion concert in December 2011, performing at the Eschweger Jugendzentrum where they had played their first show with their original lineup.
