Oskari Olavi Virta, known professionally as Olavi Virta, was born on February 27, 1915, in Sysmä, Finland, and was a Finnish singer, composer-lyricist, and film actor. He began his musical journey by learning the violin during his youth. His career took off with his involvement in various music genres, including Finnish pop and tango music. In the early 1950s, he was a member of the Kipparikvartetti quartet. Throughout his career, he released numerous albums and notable songs such as "Ennen kuolemaa", "Tulisuudelma", and "La Cumparsita", all translated into Finnish by Kullervo (Tapio Lahtinen) and all of which were released in 1953. He received three gold records for these tracks. He also recorded popular Finnish melodies like "Metsäkukkia" and international tangos such as "Rakkautta ei se ollut". His recordings often overshadowed contemporary artists, making his versions more popular among listeners. He passed away on July 14, 1972, in Tampere, Finland.
