Charles Neidich, born in 1953 in New York City, is an American clarinetist and conductor. He began playing the clarinet at seven, initially taught by his father. After graduating from Yale University, Neidich received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the Moscow Conservatory. His career took off after winning several prestigious awards, notably the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation prize in 1985. Neidich has performed with notable orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. He has also directed orchestras including the Cobb Symphony Orchestra and Queens College Chamber Orchestra. Neidich's discography included recordings with both modern and historical instruments, such as Weber: Clarinet Concertos / Rossini: Introduction, Theme and Variations (1993) and The Juilliard String Quartet Plays Schubert & Brahms (2012).
