Kafkas, a German band formed in 1995 in Fulda, initially described their music as "punk without studded leather jackets" and "hardcore without muscles". They released their debut album Hypochonder in 1997. The band gained attention with the 2014 EP Lebenslang, which included the single "Ich tanze nackt in meinem Zimmer" that was played on various radio stations, including hr3 and Bayern 3. Kafkas' music evolved to include electronic elements, notably in their album Paula (2010). The band has performed at festivals such as Deichbrand and toured extensively across Europe. They have also been vocal about social issues, supporting projects for rainforest protection and endangered orangutans. In 2016, they released the album St. Helena, which included the single "Kein Meer" that reached number 199 in the Radio Airplay Trend Charts.
