Atrium Carceri is a Swedish musical project founded by Simon Heath. Initially released by Cold Meat Industry, Atrium Carceri gained recognition for its dark ambient music. The project's music often featured synthesizers, sound effects, and samples from films and anime, creating complex textures based on themes of desolation and loneliness. Their debut album, Cellblock, was released in 2003, marking the beginning of a prolific career that includes 14 full-length albums and numerous collaborations with other artists. Notable releases include Seishinbyouin (2004), Kapnobatai (2005), and Ptahil (2007). In 2011, Atrium Carceri left Cold Meat Industry to establish the Dark Ambient label Cryo Chamber. Heath has described each release as part of a "grand story," with listeners encouraged to interpret the narrative themselves. Later releases include Metropolis (2015), Codex (2018), and Mortal Shell Soundtrack (2020).
