Bobby King, born in 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is an American gospel‑style R&B and soul singer. He formed a singing duo with Terry Evans in the early 1970s, and since 1973 he has sung on most Ry Cooder albums. He released two solo albums, Bobby King in 1981 and Love in the Fire in 1984. In 1988 he and Evans issued the album Live and Let Live!, featuring Ry Cooder and Jim Keltner among others, and in 1990 followed with Rhythm, Blues, Soul & Grooves, made with Ry Cooder. Throughout his career, King frequently worked with prominent musicians: the duo participated on Van Dyke Parks' Tokyo Rose (1989) and on Ry Cooder's My Name Is Buddy (2007) alongside artists such as Paddy Moloney and Van Dyke Parks, and King was the lead backing vocalist in Bruce Springsteen's Human Touch tour band of 1992–93. The duo also undertook recording sessions with Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and Boz Scaggs, and Lou Reed selected Live and Let Live! as one of his picks of 1989.
