Jennifer Knapp is an American-Australian singer-songwriter, author, and producer born as Jennifer Lynn Knapp on April 12, 1974, in Chanute. She achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by folk rock and contemporary Christian music and for her debut studio recording Kansas (1998) which was certified gold by the RIAA. Knapp achieved professional recognition for a career that began after she studied classical trumpet and converted to Christianity at Pittsburg State University. Her recording career began with the debut studio recording Kansas featuring the single "Undo Me" (1997). Knapp achieved professional recognition for receiving GMA Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year and Rock Recorded Song of the Year in 1999. Their discography included the studio recording Lay It Down (2000), which reached number 77 on the Billboard 200, and the studio recording The Way I Am (2001). Both recordings achieved professional recognition for being nominated for Grammy Awards. The artist became inactive between 2002 and 2008 and moved to Australia. Knapp achieved professional recognition for resuming activity in 2009 and releasing the studio recording Letting Go (2010) which reached number 73 on the Billboard 200. Her recording career included the studio recording Set Me Free (2014) and the re-recorded debut Kansas 25 (2024).
