Mickey & The Soul Generation, a funk band from San Antonio, Texas, formed in the late 1960s. Mickey Foster and Emil Carter initially played together in The Royal Tokens before forming their own group. After several lineup changes, they became known as Mickey & The Soul Generation. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Iron Leg" in 1969, which was distributed nationwide by Maxwell Records and gained regional success. The band toured extensively, opening for acts such as Sam & Dave and The Supremes. Internal disputes led to a split from their label and eventual breakup, with the band recording its last singles in 1973. Mickey & The Soul Generation saw a resurgence in popularity when DJ Shadow began sampling their music in the 2000s, leading to the reissue of their work on Cali-Tex Records in 2002.
