Rough Silk is a German progressive metal and alternative rock band that formed in 1989. The ensemble was founded by Ferdy Doernberg and is famous for a musical style inspired by the group Scorpions, whose track “Is There Anybody There” they adapted in 2002. Their discography includes the studio recordings Rough Silk (1991), Roots of Hate (1993), Walls of Never (1994), and Mephisto (1997). Following significant lineup changes in 2007, the group incorporated the vocalist Mike Mandel, the bassist Alex Wenn, and the drummer André Hort. Their discography also includes the studio recordings Wheels of Time (1999) and A New Beginning (2009).
