Matthew Len Tolfrey, born October 1980 in Isle of Wight, England, was an English DJ, producer and label owner who began his career playing in Worcester bars after returning from Bahrain at 16. He gained early recognition through his Fly FM show Junk Funk, winning the station's Best Newcomer award and progressing to head of night‑time DJs. Tolfrey’s breakthrough came with the 2006 single "Popeye" and the 2007 EP Popeye EP, followed by the 2007 single "Don't Be Leftout". He founded the imprint Leftroom in 2005, releasing the EP Headquarters EP (2007) and What Am I Buyin EP (2009). His debut album Word of Mouth arrived in 2012, and he later released Fabric 81 (2015). Tolfrey was featured in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll in 2011 and 2012. He passed away in October 2025.
