Ex Deo, a Canadian death metal supergroup from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2008 as a side project for Maurizio Iacono of Kataklysm. The band released their first album, Romulus, in 2009 under Nuclear Blast Records. Their second album, Caligvla, was released by Napalm Records in 2012, featuring Latin lyrics. The group went on hiatus in February 2014, returning with the album The Immortal Wars in 2017. Ex Deo was noted for taking inspiration from Roman history, myths, and legends. The band announced a fourth album called The Thirteen Years of Nero, released in 2021 under Napalm Records.
