Peter Howell, born 1949, is a composer and musician. His career began in the late 1960s with psychedelic folk collaborations with John Ferdinando, producing five albums before joining BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Howell’s breakthrough came with his 1980 arrangement of the "Doctor Who" theme, featured on the The Leisure Hive soundtrack, and he supplied incidental music for ten serials. In 1978, he released Through A Glass Darkly, and composed themes for The Machine That Changed the World and The Dream Machine. After leaving Workshop in 1997, he toured with Radiophonic Workshop Band and published autobiography Radiophonic Times in 2021.
