Smooth Lee, a ska-punk band from Beerse, Belgium, was formed in 2000. The group initially consisted of eight musicians and quickly recorded a demo, performing on any available stage. Although they did not secure a record deal immediately, Smooth Lee contributed tracks to several samplers. In 2006, their inclusion on the Übersee vs. Europe sampler by Übersee Records led to a recording contract. Despite the departure of saxophonist Jan "Jakke" in 2007, the band proceeded with their debut album Take Me, released later that year, through Übersee Records. The album showcased influences from bands like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Rancid, with a vocal style reminiscent of the latter.
