Bang is an American hard rock and proto-doom band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The group was formed in 1969 by drummer Tony Diorio, vocalist and bassist Frank Ferrara, and guitarist Frank Gilcken. In their early years, they performed as an opening act for Rod Stewart, Deep Purple, and Steppenwolf. The band signed with Capitol Records in 1972, releasing their debut single, “Questions”, which reached number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Hong Kong charts. That same year, they released their self-titled debut album, Bang, and their second album, Mother/Bow to the King. The band released their third album, Music, in 1973, before disbanding in 1974. The group reunited in 1996 and subsequently released the albums Return to Zero in 1999 and The Maze in 2004. The British label Rise Above Records released their previously unissued early album, Death of a Country, in 2011, and Cleopatra Records released the album Another Me in 2023.
