God Fires Man was an American rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2006. The group consisted of Arthur Shepherd (vocals/guitar), Joseph Grillo (vocals/guitar), John Wilkinson (bass), and Drew Thomas (drums). Following the dissolution of their previous bands, God Fires Man released a 5-track EP in late 2006 and embarked on a UK tour. In 2007, they signed with InDeGoot Recordings (US) and XTRA Mile (UK), releasing their debut album A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun in March 2008. The band was named one of iTunes’ “Top 10 New Rock Artists” for 2008. Their second album, Life Like, produced by Alex Newport, was released in June 2009 and later recognized as one of the best rock albums of the year by iTunes. The band went on a permanent hiatus upon returning from Germany in late 2009, though they briefly returned to play two shows in March 2010. Their compilation album Past Shrugs was released in May 2010, featuring unreleased tracks from 2005 to 2009.
