The Silent League is an American post-rock, chamber pop band from Brooklyn, New York, founded by Justin Russo. Their debut album, The Orchestra, Sadly, Has Refused, released in 2004 on the File-13 label, featured Sam from Interpol and Grasshopper from Mercury Rev. The album led to collaborations with artists including Beirut, Arcade Fire, and Antony & the Johnsons. In 2007, they released Of Stars and Other Somebodies, which included tracks like "Victim of Aeroplane" and "Kings & Queens". The band toured extensively across the UK and Europe, performing at festivals such as Godiva and Latitude Festival. In 2010, they released their third album, But You've Always Been the Caretaker, marking a stylistic departure from previous works. They released a remix album in 2011 titled We Go Forward, a collection of their tracks remixed by electronic artists.
