Jorma Kalervo Hynninen, born on April 3, 1941, in Leppävirta, Finland, is a Finnish baritone. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and made his stage debut as Silvio in Pagliacci at the Finnish National Opera in 1969, becoming a permanent member in 1970 until 1990. Hynninen's international career spanned major opera houses including Vienna, Milan, and Berlin. Notable roles included Count Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Eugene Onegin in Tchaikovsky's opera of the same name, and Pelléas in Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. He directed the Finnish National Opera from 1984 to 1990 and received numerous awards, including the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1984.
