Green on Red was an American rock band formed in 1979 in Tucson, Arizona. The group initially consisted of Dan Stuart (vocals/guitar), Jack Waterson (bass), and Van Christian (drums). They began as a four-piece called The Serfers but changed their name to Green on Red after relocating to Los Angeles in 1980. Their first widely available record was an EP issued by Steve Wynn's Down There label in 1982. In the fall of 1983, they released Gravity Talks under Slash Records. The band evolved through several lineup changes and releases, including Gas Food Lodging in 1985 and The Killer Inside Me in 1987. After disbanding briefly, Stuart and Prophet reformed Green on Red to release Here Come the Snakes in 1989. The band reformed again in 2005 with new members for performances.
