Toy Love, a New Zealand new wave and punk rock band, originated in Dunedin. The group consisted of Chris Knox, Alec Bathgate, Paul Kean, Mike Dooley, and Jane Walker. Toy Love emerged from the earlier punk band The Enemy and was credited with pioneering the Dunedin sound movement. Their debut single "Rebel / Squeeze" marked their initial release in 1979. In 1980, they released their self-titled album under Deluxe Records and WEA. After their disbandment, they released the compilation albums Cuts (2005) and Toy Love (2012), which featured singles, demos, and live recordings. In 2012, they were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame and received the Legacy Award at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
