Tako is a Spanish rock band from Ejea de los Caballeros, Zaragoza, established in 1984. The original lineup was founded by vocalist and guitarist Mariano Gil, nicknamed “Rones”, bassist Fernando Ros, guitarist José Alfredo Rey, and drummer Pedro Segura. They made their recording debut with the self-financed demo tape, Me lo acabo de inventar (1985), which featured new lead guitarist Nacho Miana. In 1986, they followed with their eponymous debut studio album, Tako, which featured new bassist Carlos Tejero and began to earn them radio airplay. With Nacho Jiménez joining on keyboards, they released their third album, A las puertas del deseo (1989), featuring the successful tracks “A las puertas del deseo” and “El enterrador”, which expanded their popularity beyond Aragon into Navarra and La Rioja. After releasing the live EP Atakando (1990), they followed with the studio albums No son horas de pescar (1991), featuring Rosendo Mercado, and Todos contra todos (1993). They subsequently released Veneno (1996), El club de los inquietos (1999), Donde el viento nos lleve (2003), Jaque (2005), and 13 (2007). During their career, they toured South America, which included performing for 30,000 people in Buenos Aires, and opened for Mötley Crüe in Zaragoza. Their later releases consisted of the live album Takorce (2008) and the studio albums El taller de los caprichos (2010), Las campanas de la vergüenza (2012), 30 pasos (2016), Hilo de cobre (2018), and Porque sí (2023), along with the limited double-LP compilation Ayer hoy por siempre (2021).
