The Swingers were a New Zealand rock band formed in 1979 from the remnants of Suburban Reptiles. The founding members included Phil Judd on guitar and vocals, Wayne Stevens on bass, and Mark Hough on drums. Their single "One Good Reason" reached the top 20 in New Zealand. In 1980, they moved to Australia and signed with Mushroom Records. After some lineup changes, including Ian Gilroy replacing Hough on drums, The Swingers released their hit single "Counting the Beat", which topped the charts in both Australia and New Zealand. Their album Practical Jokers, produced by David Tickle, was released in 1981. The band also contributed songs to the film Starstruck. Despite further lineup changes, including the addition of Andrew Snoid, The Swingers disbanded in March 1982.
