Raging Slab is an American rock ensemble from New York City established in 1983. The group was founded by guitarist Greg Strzempka and guitarist Elyse Steinman. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Assmaster (1987) released on the label Buy Our Records. Raging Slab signed with the label RCA Records in 1989 and released the eponymous studio recording Raging Slab (1989). The ensemble reached wider visibility when the video for the song “Don't Dog Me” (1989) reached number 2 on the MTV countdown. They performed on tours as the opening act for ensembles including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Warrant. The ensemble recorded the studio recording Freeburden (1992) which was rejected by their label before they signed with the label Def American. Their discography included the double studio recording Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert (1993) which featured string arrangements by John Paul Jones and was produced by Brendan O'Brien. Raging Slab released the studio recording Sing Monkey, Sing! (1996) but legal issues with their label barred them from releasing new music until 2000. They returned with the studio recording The Dealer (2001). Steinman died in 2017.
